OUR STORY

A weird name that comes from merging the identities of two other people: my dad Mario and my grandmother Dina. This is because a male newborn was expected (Marco) and nobody thought of this eventuality.

I am proud of this: unique from the first moment, not only in my name that was “sewed on me”, but also in the personality features that I took from my father and grandma, which made me the woman I am today.

I was born in Gorizia, a multicultural and multilingual town in the heart of Mitteleuropa, at the borders with Slovenia. The presence of a bilingual, surveyor dad in my family made me fall in love with both foreign languages and the idea of living and working closely with nature and surrounded by animals.

Following my passions, I have been studying humanistic subjects since high school (language studies) followed by Erasmus courses at the Aberdeen University in Scotland and Klagenfurt in Austria, until my degree in Foreign Languages and Cultures which I received in Trieste, Italy.
Subsequently, I specialized in Marketing Management at the Parma University and Wine Business at the MIB in Trieste. Moreover, I became a Sommelier.
After a few experiences in the scientific field, I started working with wine in my family business on the Collio. Here I continued practising foreign languages by keeping in touch with multiples clients I had abroad and attending events and wine tastings around the world.
I also had the opportunity to develop my creativity by starting a series of interactive edutainment projects thought for anyone at any age, even foreigners. This way they can have a glimpse of the entire production process and the human factor behind turning grapes into wine.

Five years ago, after a long and tedious journey, the arrival of my one-and-only great joy, Victoria, completely changed the way I see and live my life. Following her physical and intellectual growth was – and still is – the most natural, touching and demanding experience I have ever had. I immediately felt the need of being an active part in her life, not only as a mum; I wanted to do something concrete – while doing what I know how to do – and leave something for my daughter and the society in which we live in.
I have joined my passion for wine, the love for my land and nature, with the desire of travelling and discovering new cultures: this is how Cruna di Subida was born.

Between tradition and interpretation, and respect for the environment and innovation, a glass of wine includes the history of a land, its peculiarities, smells and people. A glass of wine is a showcase for the territory that produces it. It is the element that brings people together and creates perfect sharing atmospheres. It is the creator of memories, personal ones and those of the people who come to visit us. Memories of those who helps us live our wines in a different way from what we are used to and see the world from a different perspective.
